On the 36th day of Game Year 124 (15/12/2021), the Winter Games were added to the game. This temporary quest takes place near Tromsø, in the Stenmark Mountain — a fictive place probably named after the not-fictive-at-all Swedish former alpin ski racer Ingemar Stenmark, considered by all as the greatest slalom specialist ever.
The quest was ended on the 13th day of Game Year 125 (17/01/2022).

Santa wishes to welcome you to the official and somewhat cryptic Winter Games of 124. If you want to join this little challenge he's left a sleigh for you at Tromsø Lufthavn. A chart with the Winter Games results is available if you want to compare your results with the rest.
Please keep in mind that scoring well on this event is NOT based on how quickly you can click the compass. So there's no need to stress through the event.

Duration & difficulty
This quest is a small quest with no high risk. However, as the more you stay on the adventure, the batter are your chances to get random drops on your mood & health bars, it's recommended to be in a good shape.
As the achievement rewarded is specific to the game year 124, this is mostly a temporary quest to do before the end of real year 2021 which almost coincides with the end of game year 124.
Restrictions
There is a 1 hour cooldown shared with all your characters if you want to start the quest again.
Rewards
Starting this quest will reward you the skill Basic Skiing, while ending it will reward you the achievement Winter Games 124.
Walkthrough
To start the quest, as described in the community new, head to the Tromsø airport, Tromsø Lufthavn (ID 106193). Once there, ride the Santa's Sleigh Winter Games 124 to go on exploration.

You soon arrive at the ski station of Stenmark Mountain. Move to East and use the gate to enter the ski lift to the top of the mountain.

Top of Stenmark Mountain
It's time to ski down the mountain. Obviously you won't be able to roll back and as it's a slalom race, you'll have to pass through red and blue gates. You must alternate blue and red gates and cannot avoid a gate in order to make a correct passage.
The map below will show the only perfect itinerary. You must interact with each gate you pass in order to validate your passage, even the start gate and the finish gate.

Making a perfect passage will grant you the achievement Winter Games Year 124. You will also discover how long it took you to finish the race. Your performance depends on your Basic Skiing mastery.
As you'll move to the ski lift after finishing the race, you can make new runs how often you want. Just keep in mind that you'll suffer from the blizzard while you're out adventuring, and that you can encounter random events during your race as well. It seems that the more active you are, the less you suffer from blizzard.

Further exploration
The Winter Games 124 quest saw a new section called The Winter Games added to the game charts. Time will tell us if new Winter Games will happen in the future, but meanwhile, we can see the daily & overall records done on the ski race.
The skill Basic Skiing is a very old skill in the pipe of the developers work — its ID reveals it was here for a long time. A very old gate mentioned at the beginning of 2009 in the Gate XI thread (809533.589) was dealing with this skill, but before the release of this quest, it remained hidden.
This gate is located in the countryside of Tromsø called Tromsdalen. Once you learned the skill, you can explore the gate to Lyngen. After 98 minutes, you'll arrive at destination and will be able to learn the Norwegian Snus recipe.
