There's not much to see in a basement. It's just a home to discarded junk, lurking horrors, and dark corners.

You discovered Schliemann's room. Investigate the Cabinet (Black Steel) to discover an Ancient Diary (Leather) Helen's Diary. It can be done only once every 5 days.

Reading the diary will give you a clue about its owner:

“Deiphobus is slain and Troy is falling. Alas I must hide from both Trojans and Greeks now but my secrets will remain safe as long as I have my diary with me.”

Finally, before leaving, if you investigate the Desk (Wood), you'll find out a clue about your next destination:

"I will take the secrets to my grave! /John Wayne Doyle" is crudely carved on top of the desk.

A research on the character John Wayne Doyle (ID 11393) shows that he died at 68 years old and now rests in peace in Nashville Grave Yard (ID 5058). It's time to go there for the second part of the quest.
